Best Shoes For Security Guards

I was at the mall and saw a couple security guards chasing someone I suspect to be a shoplifter.

Curiosity got the better of me and I wondered since I have to site bootwalker.com, about their job roles and the rigour that their particular job roles place on their feet and whether or not their boots support or hinder the health of their feet.

As a result, I wondered about the best shoes for security guards. I quickly asked a few security personnel that I know of the role that they carry out each day, how it impacts their feet and the criteria that they look for in a good pair of security boots.

For the most part, they are on their feet for approximately 75% to 90% of their shift. In order to survive the day or night, their boots need to fulfil certain conditions.

The requirement that the Best Shoes For Security Guards must-have.

1. Lightweight

Since security guards have to walk a lot it is important that the shoes are lightweight, breathable and comfortable. This is even more important in the summer months when the foot can easily get overheated in the boot. The foot has to breathe unless you want to suffer from athlete’s foot or other unpleasant foot issues.

2. Composite toe

The security guard may be walking in the yard or in the stock room of stores during their regular patrol. Therefore, anything can fall on their feet at any time and foot protection is needed at all times. These boots may require steel toe boots or composite toe boots.

Remember in the beginning I told you that being lightweight is a requirement therefore composite toe boots are the best. It was without surprise that I realised that composite boots were so popular. Plus composite toe boots are improving at a fast rate and new carbon fiber safety toes are utilised which are thinner and less bulbous than steel toe boots.

2. Baby, I got Grip.

Remember the incident about the chasing, yeah? It is for that reasoning that security boots need to have lots of grips. It would be so funny if they had fallen over, well not really. There is always some type of slippery liquid on the floor. An anti-slip shoe is, therefore, a must for security guards.

3. Ankle support

While running you may change direction or your feet may slip off the edge of the sidewalk or stairs. It is therefore important to have adequate ankle support for your ankles.if you hurt them you could be out of work for weeks. Your family would not appreciate that.  If I was a security guard, I would invest in a good tactical footwear with about an 8inch upper.

4. Impact absorption

Getting a boot with a polyurethane sole may be a good idea. It is heat resistant up to a certain degree and can cushion some of the impacts on your foot.

5. Get a security boot that is waterproof

No matter the weather you have to do your rounds. You still have to check the gates and walk the perimeter of the premises. Thieves do not care that it is bad weather, as a matter of fact, they love it. If water gets inside your boot it will not be comfortable therefore your boot needs to be waterproof as well as comfortable.

6. Arch support

Standing all day will have an impact on the tendons in your feet. Getting arch support is a must. Get shoes with good arch support. If you can’t then buy a pair of arch support off amazon. Dr. Scholl’s “custom fit” is an option. They are quite expensive but are your feet worth it? Sometimes it is better to buy one product of a good quality instead of buying lots of cheap products. It is a false economy to buy cheap.

Changing your boot every two to three years will make sure that your feet are well supported.
